2013 "Ray Kenny Bursary" results

Headline – Plymouth catering student Natalie Moore wins bursary.

Catering and hospitality student Natalie Moore has won a £2,000 bursary and a work placement at a Michelin-starred restaurant.  Natalie, who studies at City College Plymouth, won the Ray Kenny Bursary and will how learn from the best at Lucknam Park Hotel, near Bath.  Tomas Pavilonis from Cornwall came in a close second.

Competitors had to cook a starter, main and dessert, with a West Country theme, on a budget of just £15, and present it to judges.

Ray’s wife Isabelle kenny – who owns and runs Castle Grove said: “The aim is to widen the horizons of budding chefs in the West Country and to keep Ray Kenny’s legacy of haute cuisine and traditional tastes alive.”

    We were delighted to host the competition for the second year and see such a successful outcome, the standard was extremely high. The bursary competition is an excellent showcase for students’ skills and provides an amazing opportunity for our young chefs. Truly a fitting tribute in Ray’s memory.
